I was so impressed with this mini, that I had to put him on a suitable base. I also wanted to experiment with water effects, so I chose to use a cascade behind the mini. I was originally going to experiment with acrylic gel for the water, but when I super glued the figure to the base, I really liked the effect that the Super Thin Insta-Cure created. So, I dripped the Insta-Cure down the rock, and into the creek bed that I had carved into the base.
When I looked at the Picture provided with the mini, he seemed too bright, so I chose a more muted color scheme. This was one of my first uses of the wet blend technique. I was really pleased with how the reds of the loin cloth and the flesh tones turned out.
I tried NMM on the blades, but was disappointed in the results, so I reverted to a standard metallic technique.

Because of the red coloration of the photos - I can't comment too
much...but here goes...
Strengths: The axe looks well done and the skin well shaded and
highlighted.
Weaknesses: Not too sure about the pale green arm fabric and a
shot from the back would be nice!
Overall: An intersting take on this guy - well done!

It's kinda hard to really see the colour scheme as it's all quite
reddish - that's probably removing some differentiation from the
fig - as it is the skin looks quite reddish, which is a bit close
to the loincloth. The green looks like it'd be a nice fresh
colour, and the base looks rather neat - the water effect is
cool. He's leaning back a bit though, and I'm not too sure about
the light blue fabric stuff, it seems to not really fit in with
the rest of the scheme.

I like the base. It turned out very well. The photos seem a bit
"red", so the skin is hard to see. The color on the tabard
is quite nice and the green makes a nice touch.

He really does look much better in person. I will try to reshoot
the pics and post them to the mini painter group. I'm still
learning to use my new digital camera. The sleeves were painted
a pale pastel green to compliment the dark green of the armor. I
had a hard time with him, because he just didn't want to be
painted. But I probably learned more from this one than any
other mini I have painted.

Hi Jack,
Nice work on the base. I'll wait until you have better pics up
before commenting further as the red makes this difficult to
review.

I love the blending, very nicely done. I would have liked a bit
more contrast between the red of the cloth and the brown of the
body, and I would have liked a few more shots (like a true back
shot) to get a look at the pouch and weapon haft, but all in all
it is a nice job. I tend to shy away from dark red and grey
color combos (nightmares of middle school colors) but it works OK
here.

Very nice piece, as far as the pictures allow me to judge. Like
the base work a lot, though a minor naggle: the black on the
claws doesn't work for me. Still a nice effort.

Geert

I like the demon color look to him. A nice refreshing &
different look to him compared to the other grey wolfen out
there. Though I don't now about the pale color choice on his
leather. And his nails should be black like his toe nails. But
nicely done.

Very earthy skin tones, gives a nice tanned feel to him. The face
is well done too and the eyes in particular. I could hardly see
them when I was painting him!
The cool tones you've chosen for the fabrics contrast nicely to
the skin, although they do look a little washed out against the
other areas, I'm putting that down to the fact they're so light
though.
Detail work is nice, the red has indeed worked out well. The base
is excellent too. Nice work that man!

Jack, your Zeiren looks cool, nice shading on the red, but hard
to tell what shading is on the green bits. I like the great work
on the base, too. Your shading on the skintones is also well
done! It nagged at me though, that his weapon seems to stand out
more...maybe a few judiscious bits of red or the green added to
make all his accessories match. <g> Great job!
