After my last VIC (the dark elf with poodle) I thought I should do a straight forward piece again without some odd jokes. ;-) So I decided to convert the mini into a SF miniature. Doing this, I stuck to the girls with big guns theme. I simply gave her some big modified Gorka-Morka weapons. Also to emphasize the SF-theme, I gave her a cyber-eye.

The pose of the miniature was intended to suggest that she is jumping and just landing. I decided to give her something to jump over. So I built a barbed-wire fence. The barbed-wire is made from thin silver wire, by wrapping short pieces of wire around it.

Also I wanted her to be short before the landing. Since I don't like solid wires or transparent rods under miniatures that are supposed to be flying, I decided to mount her a little different. I drilled a hole in her side and pinned her to a tire that is half buried in the mud of the battlefield. I think this worked out pretty well.

The painting is straight forward, and pretty much rushed, since the deadline for the VIC was coming closer and closer. I decided to stay away from a bright scheme, since she is a warrior in a dark SF-setting. So I used mainly browns.

Thanks to Reaper and Deane for helping to make all this happen !

Very cool. Being Visions number 7 and the Cyber eye, you could
almost call her "7 of 9" :)

Wot? No Poddles? ;-)
Excellent execution of the "problem" pose having her
jumping. I like the way you hid the way she's mounted. Without
the explanation I actually couldn't figure it out, how you had
done it. Great base - even if I don't like cyberpunk that much-
and I absolutely love the browns of the coat. 7 of 9? I would
sincerely doubt it if this wouldn't be at least 8 of 10.

That was me. Hit submit too soon.

<sighs> You couldn't just paint the figure they handed out,
could you? :)

The way she's landing and there's nothing underneath her feet is
a stroke of brilliance. I was having a good look for the wires
before I read the commentary.

Absolutely no faults with your painting, the cloak in particular
is lovely and the blend is so smooth it's painful. Nice to see
your sanity is slowly returning since the last VIC!

Hi Dom,

So this is your idea of a good mini hey....

Well your conversion is....

You need to work on your.....

Ok so It's my idea of a good mini too..

Can't wait to see her in person.

Of all the faces I've seen her painted as, you managed to give
her a different look. perhaps its the one cybereye changing her
face around a bit, but she looks completely different. Now, that
makes for an original look. Great idea about the landing ;-) the
pin holding her up is quite hard to find, so that doesn't
distract from the diorama. Overall, this piece is quite impressive, and showing of the
quality that you can perform on little metal women with biggun's
, err big guns :D

Nice mini vignette. I really like your solution to her motion. I
think Patton is corrupting you, though. :P

Nice work, Dom! Very clever mounting solution with the ol'
"pin out the side into the seemingly innocent tire" trick.
Excellent idea. I will say that the guns are bit overly large, but you've given
them a very effective old metal look that works. The base is
nice (dig the barbed wire), but my favorite part is your blending
of the browns on the coat -- Excellent!

Ooo, all the browns and reds in this are really nice. I like
your base and I think it convincingly explains her pose. I'm
glad to see another sci-fi interpretation of this mini. It's a
nice conversion, although some of the sculpting of the fingers
where they meet the thumbs looks a little rushed (not that I
could do better!).

Hi Dominic,

Good stuff! I like the scifi conversion. The guns are a bit too
big for my taste (I would have sought smaller ones myself). Cool
colorscheme and really well blended colors. The skin tone is also
bang on... I would have liked somewhat smoother metallics... a bit
'cleaner'...

Ok, although I'm not overly fond of Sci-Fi stuff--yours is
great. I love the way you mounted her in motion, very ingenious.
And the colors are very natural without looking bland.
