This is my entry for the fifth VIC. Since it was shortly before Christmas I and I saw a movie poster of the movie "The Grinch", I decided to make a Grinch like Santa Ork for this VIC.
Well the original figure was not very close to a Santa type ....
So first I took my motor tool and cut away most of the details of the figure, turning the original into a matrix for my target figure. Later in the sculpting process I noticed that I had to cut away even more of the metal and so I did.
First I sculpted some furry legs and these funny "Grinch shoes". Also I added a fur rim to the cape. Then I applied a layer of clothing over the body and the arms.
I added more furry rims, a belt and the basic shape of the hat. Also I decided that the little skulls didn't fit the theme at all, so I cut them away and replaced them with some Christmas gadgets. I removed the teeth, added a upper lip and replaced the nose with a dog nose.
Then I tried to make the face even closer the the Grinch by adding a snout between the lips and the nose. Finally I sculpted a small parcel for the one hand and a Teddy bear for the other one. The only things that remained in a silver color where the cape and parts of the face. the rest is now almost sculpted from the scratch. Maybe this goes a little far in the context of the VIC, but I simply had to do this.
The painting is straight forward, and follows the classic Coca Cola Sant Clause color scheme. The base is flocked with acrylic texture gel, painted with a pearlcent color and washed with some sky blue GW ink. I already fixed the small non-opaque spots on the Teddy.
This was a real fun project. I did this in two evenings and one complete night (to finish before Christmas).
